    "Of course" the villain croons, returning the teacher's unflinching gaze. "In fact, I think we can all help each other, don't you agree?" 

    And, really, there's no risk that Shouta would blink. Right now, his eyes are as wide as saucers. "You can't be serious" he murmurs, terrified by the implications of their exchange. Because this is a heat Quirk, and there's only one way to help with that. Because he's an alpha, alone with two omegas, and one of those omegas is his student-- 

    "Dead serious, I'm afraid" Shigaraki says sweetly, and Shouta’s heart drops.

    Or: in which the HSPC is experimenting with Quirk pills, Shouta’s former-student-turned-villain steals some for the League, and it all goes south from there.

    "And if I don't comply?" Todoroki asks, staring the leader dead in the eye. The kid hasn't tried to make a break for it yet, but his restraints are tight enough that he can't move.

    "Then you can't leave," Tomura replies. "We can do this all day." He mentally curses Dabi, who said that if he lays a finger on the boy, he'll burn down the whole warehouse. Now the most he can do is leave the kid tied up for a while, and that'll probably interfere with movie night. Damn him.

    "In that case, I wish to stay." The boy turns to Magne, suddenly back to charming middle schooler mode. "Am I able to have a peanut butter sandwich? Father never lets me eat unhealthy food."

    “I always knew, pretty bird,” Dabi murmured. His voice was as gentle as it always was when it was just them, not showing any signs of anger at all. “The others don’t know, but I could always tell. You were going through the motions at first, barely hiding your disgust with what you had to do and struggling to come up with convincing excuses for you to switch sides. There was no personal motivation, no tipping point, of course I knew you were still with the heroes.”

    “Then why?” Hawks’ voice shook. “Why did you keep meeting with me?”

    “Because I saw something in you. I saw the potential for you to switch sides for real, and considering the fact that we’re having this conversation right now, I’d say that paid off.” Dabi shook his head slightly, chuckling ruefully as he said, “I saw myself in you, you know? You were working yourself to the bone for someone who couldn’t care less about you because you didn’t know anything else. Because at least they gave you a purpose. I know that pain. No one ever helped when I reached out for it, not even when I begged for it, and I refused to turn away someone who needed help just because he didn’t know that he needed it yet. I refused to be like them.”
