“Nat?”
The voice was not what she’d expected, not what he remembered, but her mouth moved before her brain could catch up. “Steve?”
But she couldn’t believe she was saying it, couldn’t buy that the six-foot-tall blond in front of her was the same, skinny runt of a boy she’d left behind all those years ago. Yet his head nodded, mouth opening and closing like a goldfish as his defensive stance softened. He was still all Steve Rogers under there, though, everything from the bashful smile and those twinkling blue eyes she missed more than she’d admit out loud.
An incredulous, breathy chuckle was the only sound Natasha could make in return, each seemingly waiting on the other for an explanation.
“You… grew up?”
