His breath hits the curve of her ear – too warm, too close – an almost mocking comfort against the bite of late‑autumn cold. Then a hard shove between her shoulder blades sends her lurching forward, boots scraping over crooked paving stones. Her nerves scatter like startled insects, skittering from her gut down into her toes until they feel hijacked, half‑numb, barely hers.
A gloved hand clamps onto her hip. The squeeze is deliberate, a promise with teeth.
“Run.”
So she does.

Summary
Grace has the math figured out: love her, and you die.
She survived the worst of it, but survival was never meant to be the hard part. Loving Leon S. Kennedy without getting him killed is far, far worse.
Grace is convinced she’s a walking death sentence. Leon is convinced he’s not worth sticking it out for. And as their unspoken grief turns into something entirely too close, too intense, and far too dangerous, Grace realizes the hardest thing isn't staying alive — it's trying to keep her distance from a man who refuses to let her go.
