Years after Cassandra's gone, Varian is now eighteen years old and the royal engineer of Corona.
After a long night of work, his chemicals cause an explosion that turns his workplace upside down. And, while cleaning the materials up, he finds a green book that reveals hidden truths about his family.
He finds out about the Seven Trials, quests made by Demenitus himself, in which he placed a single token on each one of the Seven Kingdoms. The one who manages to collect them all will prove their worth and be granted access to the Eternal Library, where lays the answers to all of science's questions.
As if that weren't enough, the alchemist discovers that his mother tried to face the challenge. And there are still chances of her being alive. So, in hope of possibly finding her and earning access to the Eternal Library, Varian decides to follow her steps. With Yong, Nuru and Hugo, he is challenged like never before.
