The idea for this came to me while I was writing certain elements of my other fic (A Case of You). This short passage is intended mainly as a trial chapter: a taste of things that could follow if people like it. A vulnerable new inmate with a murky past catches the predatory eye of Governor Joan Ferguson. When I started this fic I wasn't sure where it would take me or when in the series it was set. As it has progressed it's become apparent these events would have started early in season 3 (with a very much S2-style Joan Ferguson) and then diverged onto AU tangent in which Joan remains Governor. As such, some of the minor details (prison layout, minor aesthetic details etc) may be a little different.
This is my very first fanfic so please be kind. This work is very much informed and influenced by my own life, my childhood experiences and resulting adult desires.
