Zoey’s voice was soft, almost shy.
“Being stuck in a supply closet?”
Soft laughter bubbled from Zoey, vibrating against Mira in a way that made her hyper-aware of how pressed together they still were. But now, it was different—intentional.
“No, silly … I meant this—”
Zoey nuzzled closer, hiding her face in the crook of Mira’s neck. And then, so quietly, she almost missed it.
“I meant you.”

Mira and Zoey accidentally trespass somewhere and get chased down by security, which leads them to hide in a small supply closet. Let's just say it's a very cramped space and Mira is losing brain cells with Zoey pressed against her.

Zoey was torturing her. Yep, that’s what she was doing, absolutely torturing her. And worst of all—
Mira was enjoying it.
She couldn’t pull away, couldn’t hold her back—she didn’t want to either. And Zoey? She seemed to relish this. Mira could feel her lips forming into a smile every time her heart jumped—felt those lips on her skin.
What was she doing? She was supposed to be comforting Zoey. That was the plan, not whatever this was turning into. But now? Mira felt like the one falling apart.

Summary

In a frantic turn of events, Ava sends her generals to Earth, instructing them to protect her friends and loved ones while she stays behind to uncover Reya's true plans. The generals, now together with Beatrice and the OCS, must fight against Reya's soldiers who are sent their way. They work to piece together Reya’s plans based on the journal Ava had given the generals, facing numerous hardships along the way.
Unaware of Ava’s circumstances in the other realm, Beatrice and the OCS struggle to piece together Reya’s plans. Will they ever reunite with Ava, and if they do, will their meeting be what they hope for? The fate of Ava and the resistance hangs in the balance. Can they stop Reya from succeeding, or is the battle already lost?
