“So?” Satoru grabbed one of the skewers in front of him, placing the burning hot chicken between his teeth and pulling without an ounce of regret. “How’s it going with the Kraken?”
Suguru slid the menu Satoru left out toward him, skimming its contents before tapping on the item that caught his interest. “I’m thinking we should order some fried calamari while we’re here.”
“That bad, huh?”
❤ Satoru and Suguru work for a somewhat dubious (but respectable) marine research center that specializes in housing and observing the rarest creatures one can find. Two merfolk, nicknamed Yuji and Sukuna by staff, have been brought in to the facility under their care, and neither are transitioning well to their new home in captivity. It isn't until a security breach occurs after hours that the researchers understand why.

“And here I thought each of you were capable enough to handle a simple walk in the woods.” Sukuna chuckled, his smirk covering how livid he truly felt at the thought of having to engage in combat in the dead of night all because a couple of idiots couldn’t remain out of sight.
“A walk!? We had to fight for our lives—!” One of the younger faces in the back shouted overhead, causing the captain of the small party to turn and grasp his jawline to see him silenced.
“Hold your tongue!” The order came out hoarse, leading to the man coughing as he tore the stretched and deformed fabric of his hitatare. The cloak that had been draped over before was missing, with the red marks around the man’s neck leaving Sukuna to believe it had been torn off rather violently. “I beg for your forgiveness, Sukuna-sama. We were blindsided and ill-equipped to deal with… that.”

Every word that came out of Sukuna’s mouth was spoken in such a way as to pull on Yuji’s nerves, invasively spreading over his skin and keeping him desperate for more. By contrast, every word which came out of Yuji’s own mouth dug himself deeper into his self-constructed grave. But at this point, the hole was already so deep he would not be crawling out of it regardless of what he did now.
“Greedy. Jealous. Probably possessive, but that could just be me projecting.”
❤ To challenge the King of Curses was a fool's errand. For an omega to do so during his preheat, well, that was ripe for disaster. In order to protect the one he loves but could not have, Yuji charges headfirst to his death, only to find that his actions were to vastly different consequences than what he expected.

Was this a joke? Ignoring the presumption that this sorcerer could request anything from him, Sukuna chose to respond to his introduction in kind.
“Ryomen Sukuna.”
“Eh?”
Yuji blinked. The edges of his smile quivered, but the shape of his lips did not change as a faint series of confusing sounds broke free into the air. The sorcerer was laughing. At him—The King of Curses. But only briefly, as Yuji soon covered his mouth with his hands, frowning through his fingers as a new emotion appeared on his face.
“You shouldn’t lie to others. It’s rude. Especially when I was being honest.”
❤ To every rule there was an exception. In Sukuna's case, he did not willingly search for one, but instead his exception unknowingly stumbled into his domain and unintentionally caught them both by surprise. Only one human could ever sway Sukuna's heart, and now that he found him, the curse was not going to let him go so easily.

Hesitant, but ultimately unwilling to witness any more harm to be done through his decisions, his vessel pressed his lips for what he intended to be a small and painless kiss. But Sukuna wouldn’t let him go so quickly. Not when he could easily keep the brat in place and sip the air from his lungs. Part his lips with his tongue and indulge in the sweet taste of his mouth intermixing with the salt dripping down from his eyes.
This act of love was not for him, but Sukuna did not care.
