Severus Snape dies on May 2nd, 1998, hated by everyone except a sad portrait with twinkling blue eyes, a blonde aristocrat with an ornate elm cane, and a green-eyed, messy haired prophecy boy.
He wakes up in a bed he hasn’t slept in for twenty years, sits up gingerly, and touches his throat, half in shock. He looks up at a long-forgotten calendar with '1971' in large black letters, collapses backwards on the rickety bed and laughs.
