Summary
What if Soyong was everything Cheoljong thought she was– manipulative, deceitful,
and self-absorbed? And she did engineer their first meeting under the awning, that fateful rainy afternoon.Cheoljong detests everything she represents– greed, power, and self interest. But Soyong is highly favored by those in power, and he will attempt to inveigle himself into her heart, if only to get an advantage over his enemies.
Soyong thinks he's an imbecile– feeble-minded and unfit to rule. But to Soyong, Cheoljong is the perfect means to an ultimate end.
Soyong harbors subversive secrets of her own, and while she craves power for herself, it is not the goal, merely an artifice of ambition.
At some point, their interests converge and they realize that the bitterest of rivals make the sweetest of allies. And just underneath all that enmity are two hearts made of gold.
Written in the first person with Cheoljong and Soyong alternating PoVs per chapter.
Note: This is a Soyong & Cheoljong-centered fanfiction. Bong Hwan is never mentioned in this AU.

Summary
This is an alternate universe where Jang Bong Hwan never travelled back in time, but it follows a similar narrative where Cheoljong appears to be a puppet king, and So Yong is the woman selected by her powerful clan to be queen. It starts smack in the middle of the story where Cheoljong visits the queen’s chambers to find out what her motives are for saving him and Hwa Jin. From there, they have alternating POVs that show what transpired before that iconic confrontation in the Queen’s bedchamber. So Yong comes back from the lake a changed woman: strong, sassy, sly, shrewd.

Summary
In Episode 14, the blind physician tells Cheoljong of the Grand Dowager Queen and Kim Jwa Geun’s intent to poison the queen. Cheoljong hightails to the palace to stop it. In the canon, he makes it in time, but in this AU, Cheoljong doesn’t.
As a consequence, Jang Bong Hwan is sent back into the present early, while So Yong gets her consciousness back. She is then left to her own devices, to her own mind.
I’ve often wondered what would have happened if Bong Hwan went back to the present much earlier than he did in the canon and So Yong is left to fend for herself. This is my take on this huge (but not entirely unique) “what if?”
Caveats:
Jang Bong Hwan will be mentioned here and there, but he does not play an active role in this AU.
This is pure fiction: I took a few liberties to change historical facts.

Summary
In true Mr. Queen fashion, I'm adding a few short stories, that belong to the Queen of Swords (QoS) timeline. As Lady Choi so eloquently put it, everyone in the palace has secrets, some too trivial to reveal but provoke too much curiosity to ignore.
More importantly, I started QoS smack in the middle of the story so I'm adding chapters covering the events that led to Cheoljong's visit to Daejojeon in QoS Chapter 1. I am also writing a few other stories that I initially thought were too trivial to even include, and perhaps a few other minor stories after the events of QoS end.
There is probably no need to read QoS to relate to these short stories, but reading the main storyline will add some context.
A caveat: These short stories are not in chronological order.
ALSO: Jang Bong Hwan is still not on this timeline.
