Summary
“What, no speech?” Gustave questions a smirk on his face, standing near the steps leading down into the pier.
“Oh this is far from the death march of the past expeditions," Comes Emma's reply. "Besides, they’ll only be gone a few months, with no Paintress looming over them.”
Gustave sobers suddenly at the thought, looking forward to watch as the team in front of him loads the last of the supplies Emma was able to drag out of the council into funding, onto their ship. His eyes find Verso amongst them, a smile on his face as speaks to a fellow crew member.
He was going to miss that man.
With all of the Painter's out of the canvas, a city left to restore, and a continent to explore, a new type of Expedition is needed. One to gather resources, map and document, research and development. Verso chooses to join, to escape, Gustave chooses to remain trapped in his own responsibilities.

Summary
They’re stuck in the manor for over a week when it happens.
It didn’t matter that any other time they’d entered the manor, the front door had always been unlocked, ready to safely transport them back to whichever entrance they’d found littered on the continent. The first time Gustave had entered one of the manor doors, he hadn’t feared a trap. His search for Maelle simply too important to care, even if it had been one. He certainly felt a bit trapped now, however.
After spending hours the first day and night trying to open the front door before giving up, it had been decided to at least use the manor if they were to be confined in its walls.

Summary
Killing in Lumiere was tricky, to say the least. People reacted poorly to finding a corpse. Even if, after they faded, the city soon forgot their presence. As long as he didn’t kill anyone that Maelle had known, that small group of people she actually cared about and the people nearest them, Maelle wouldn’t notice. So many of the city's inhabitants would go unnoticed.
AU Of Verso turning to mass murder in the wake of being forced to exist, and Gustave wanting to chase the bliss of non-existence himself after having been unwillingly made immortal.

Summary
Gustave heads to the rooftop garden above his apartment, hoping the late night air, the sounds of the ocean will calm his ever racing mind. He gets quite the opposite however, when he enters and finds Verso Dessendre sitting dangerously close to the edge.
He certainly didn’t expect company at such an hour, definitely didn’t expect that company to be of a man that seemed to avoid him, and least of all, did Gustave expect, to want to see and talk to him again when the night is over.

Summary
Verso stares down at their joined hands, his eyes caught on the silver band of his own hand, lined up with Gustave’s underneath. The first few times they’d done this, they’d both sheepishly taken the rings off, placing them to the side until clothes were being put back on, nervous glances exchanged before parting ways.
Now the two of them didn’t even bother, chance encounters became regular meetings. Regular meetings became daily activities. His eyes are locked onto the rings now though, his mind recalling waking up with it on his hand after returning from his gommage.
