Summary
In the months after rescuing Baldur's Gate and freeing themselves from enslavement to Bhaal and Cazador (not to mention finally being rid of the parasites), Astarion and Hasim find themselves working out the kinks of a welcome period of slow domesticity. It would be perfect if not for the aching hole left behind by the absence of their partner, Lae'zel, who is leading the liberation of the Githyanki people from Vlaakith.

Summary
“During our time in camp, I had relied on studying you all. Leliana, Alistair.. they were easy, but you? Sten? It took a lot of.. eyesight.” He admitted. “I knew the tiniest of tells, just by watching, listening.. Sten became the most expressive man around, and you.. you were see-through.”
There’s a somewhat long stretch of silence, Joswen trying to decide if he wants to admit it- and Zevran holding his breath, terrified for the man he abandoned. This is his fault, isn’t it? Of course it is. “I can barely see my right foot.”Zevran feels cold. Like he’s been dunked in freezing cold water, like- it’s filling him up and making him ache, and Joswen feels.. desperate. Neither of them like this, this.. distance.
———
After Joswen loses his eye, Zevran decides to stick around. It’s bittersweet.
