“You want us to foster a kid?” Mike finally asks, disbelieving. Will is half convinced that El will laugh in their faces, clearing up the misunderstanding with a, “No, silly. I want you to water my plants.”
“It doesn’t have to be forever,” El says. “Just until I can find another home for him. I can’t stand him living in the shelter anymore. Not right now. He needs emotional support. And don’t lie to me— I know you two have been wanting kids. This can be a trial run.”

Summary
Mike caught a glimpse of what was cutting into his leg, flashing silver in the light. It was a thick metal cord, wires twisted together into a sharp and unforgiving rope that was dragging him upwards by the foot. His breaths came in fast, tearful pants, agony tearing through him. It was one of the traps, a rope attached to the branch of a tree that had been stretched down, but now just slightly bent under his weight.
_______On his way to visit Will, Mike has an unfortunate encounter with a demodog trap.

“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.
