Summary
The universe is vast and unending. It is likely that somewhere out in the great universe, there exists a living species, built upon a different molecule from ours, just as equally capable of conscious thought and equally as deserving of consideration. A species to share ideas and thoughts with, to share resources and knowledge with, where respect for the debate can be had.
Perhaps more lays beyond the bounds of the Laurel Wreath galaxy. As he gazes upon the night sky, he wonders... What more could they learn, if they were to reach out and embrace the stars?

“I do not anticipate this test being overly exciting,” Ratio says, adjusting a few settings on the screens in front of him until the data recording interface is displaying the graphs and numbers that he wants. He fiddles with the sound output for a moment, too, making sure that the sonification will be audible to him.
“You are here,” Screwllum says easily, and Ratio’s hand freezes over the volume control. The screen beeps once when he takes too long to release the button, and Screwllum laughs quietly. “I need no other reason to desire to stay.”

He’s always doing that, it seems - waiting patiently for Ratio. The thought makes something twist in his stomach. “Thrice is a habit.”
“Question: Is it disagreeable to you?” There is something close to a laugh in Screwllum’s voice.
No, Ratio supposes. No, it is not.
[In the wake of the events on Penacony, Ratio is temporarily called back to the Intelligentsia Guild to assist the Armed Archaeologists and Screwllum with preparation for their expedition to the Mechanical Emperor Tomb. Overdue discussions of intimacy and its implications cannot be avoided forever.]

Right, maybe a few months ago, the Genius Society had decided to join forces with the IPC to conduct a galactic-scale project. It was called the “Pulling a prank on Veritas Ratio” project.

Ratio received an offer to join a project involving the development of a mass destruction weapon from the IPC, and it seemed that he didn't have much of a choice.
