Maomao has still not met the emperor’s younger brother. She almost doubts his existence. There is a slight curiosity in her mind as to whether or not he will attend this garden party. Though, honestly, she much prefers him as a spectral figure than a flesh and blood one.

Hearing her name from his lips seems to be too much for her, and she withdraws her hand fully. He nearly whimpers at the loss of contact, but instead sits up fully so they’re on the same level.
It’s difficult, trying to retain any sense of dignity as he sits there naked, but he does his best, because she needs to understand.
“Do you…not want to?” He asks quietly, when she doesn’t look at him for a while.
She sighs, but still keeps her eyes averted. “I didn’t say that.”
