In some other timeline, Alastor's deal breaks within hours of the hotel battle. He's filled with excitement and is quick to rub it into Rosie's face. But when he stops to think about why it broke...now he's got an issue much worse. Adam remanifested in Hell, and Alastor finds he might enjoy the first man's company (and new form) more than he thought. Killing him again is always an option.
