Summary
Emma Swan has never found a place to call home. Growing up as an orphan made it hard to find one; people never stayed. If they did, they never kept her around. She got into trouble in her teens, but after making a friend in high school, she found a reason to turn things around.
After becoming a police officer, she's starting to settle down and make a life for herself. When a gorgeous woman moves in across the street, a hole in her heart she doesn't know existed starts to fill.
Regina Mills is a sight to see. The woman seems nervous and quiet in public, intriguing Emma due to the way her attitude changes once they're in private settings.
It's almost like Regina has a secret to keep...

“Don’t you think you’re being a little greedy?” a man with glasses asks, and the room quiets.
“I’m sorry?” Regina’s gone cold-eyed, stony. Emma would laugh at how hard she’s going to crush this guy if she wasn’t so disgusted.
“Don’t you think you’re being greedy,” he repeats, enunciating. “I mean, you already have a wife, a kid, a nice house, a job--and now you want to be mayor, too? Seems like you have a lot of...ambition,” and he twists the word so it sounds like a curse.
