“Did you miss me?” Phainon’s apparition says, his fingers brushing over Mydei’s mouth and cheeks, wiping them clean of blood. He is still smiling, but his gaze is strange, staring at Mydei with too much intensity.
“Yes,” Mydei says simply.
At his answer, Phainon laughs, though the sound belies only sadness. “You weren’t usually this straightforward before.”
“What good would hiding such things do in a dream?”
Another laugh. “A dream? I see,” Phainon says. “A nice one, I hope.”

They break away and Shidou’s hands are warm on Rin’s face, his fingertips chasing after the sharp angles of his jawline. He nips at Rin’s lips before shoving him into the backseat, his duffel tossed in the trunk before he finally joins the other boy.
