Summary
“According to the judgment of the Oratrice Mechanique d’Analyse Cardinale, Miss Clorinde is declared guilty.”
Wriothesley had found himself watching her throughout the majority of the trial. She did not possess the pompous attitude of a corrupt noble, with a head held high and a narrow-eyed stare, or the defensive demeanour of a guilty rascal. The accused’s gaze had been level, her head held straight, never once dipping in shame or raising in arrogance.

Summary
Clorinde had always put duty first—so much so that years of solitude and restraint had become second nature. It wasn’t until she reached the edge of burnout and was temporarily reassigned to the Fortress of Meropide for a week that her carefully maintained distance began to crack. There, she entered into a discreet arrangement with Wriothesley—an unspoken understanding that offered intimacy without commitment—only to find it stirring a yearning she thought she’d long since buried.
Several nights later, stationed back on the surface, she is tasked with serving as personal bodyguard to Kamisato Ayato, the Inazuman delegate visiting Fontaine. Amid political meetings, glittering balls, and a whirlwind of public appearances, Ayato’s composed charm and quiet protectiveness become increasingly difficult to ignore… and Wriothesley, watching from afar, is unwilling to let go of what they shared without a fight.
Caught between duty, desire, and two men who challenge everything she thought she knew about herself, Clorinde must decide how much of her guarded heart she’s willing to risk.

Summary
“I mean it, Clorinde.” Wriothesley said, pressing a kiss to her palm. “If things get rough, you have to get out of there.” He whispered, pressing a kiss against her forehead.
Clorinde’s eyes fluttered closed when his lips touched her head. She exhaled, “I will, Wriothesley.” She opened her eyes, looking him in the eye. “But you do know when I am assigned a mission, I will not abandon it until it’s done.”
Wriothesley frowned.
“And that means not leaving the boy, too,” She said. Before he could protest, she cupped his face, both hands on either side of his face. This forced him to look into her beautiful violet gaze. “That also means I will come back to you. Just as I promised.”
Wriothesley and Clorinde go over their plan before the events of the Fortress of Meropide take place.
