Summary
Shinobu extends her hand out, slowly, feeling cool rain on her arms. The scent of flowers spread everywhere, mixing in with the moist air and pouring droplets. She closes her eyes for a moment. It would have been a nice day.
She walks for a little while, past the streets that became so familiar to her after all these years, past the little udon shop with the nice old man who served them dishes for free when they were younger, past the spa her sister used to go to all the time, past the clearing in the forest nearby, the place where no one can hear them as they cry for their parents.
Memories flash in her mind as she walks by the streets that slowly became her home. It was a place of new beginnings, of possibility, of hope. It was a place, offered to two small girls, newly turned orphans, to recover and heal from the life behind them. They were young, alone, and devastated, but they had eachother.
She opens her eyes to the entrance of the cemetery.
And now it’s only a few years later, and Shinobu is truly alone.

“Don’t make a mess out of yourself.” Shinobu stated, and as she looked into those big lost eyes, her tough exterior started to crumble. She sighed –yet again- and gently patted her head. She froze for a moment when Kanao leaned into her touch, and it brought back the harsh reminder that this child may have never experienced any kind of affection.
She was furious. What kind of parents would sell their child? What kind of parents would break their child so badly?
