When Jungwon’s housing plans fall through his mid-semester transfer, moving in with Jay feels less like a big decision and more like the only practical answer. They’re still new to dating, which means they're still learning things about each other in quiet, ordinary ways.
Somewhere along the way, it becomes picking out the bruised part in fruit.
Jay starts noticing things without meaning to: which strawberries are too soft, which apples need cutting around the bruise, which pieces Jungwon will quietly reach for first. And Jungwon starts noticing something else entirely—how nothing Jay gives him ever seems to be the “bad” part.
And maybe that care, in its simplest form, doesn't always need to be spoken to be understood.
