Summary
The trees feel like a shelter, enveloping them in a sense of stillness. It doesn’t feel like there’s a single soul for miles except the birds and squirrels; there are no people, or distant car horns, or yelling, or quiet tension drawing the air taut. It’s so far removed from the city’s chaos that Tim thinks they could be anywhere in the world right now.
He voices his question once they’ve finished eating, opting to linger a little longer in the stillness. “Why’d you pick here?”
As she hums in contemplation, Lucy leans over to rest her head on his shoulder. “I don’t know,” she admits. “I saw a few pictures online and I just… I guess it reminded me of home.”
Or:
Five times Tim and Lucy talk about their childhood safe spaces, and one time they realise their safest space now. 5+1 fic, loosely set in S8 and beyond.
