Summary
The summer following his fifth year hadn’t absolved his feelings at all, only helping in amplifying them. Two months of undiluted James Potter does that to you.
Now, as a sixth year student, he walked up the steps to the astronomy tower, nervously adjusting his hair, moving long black curls from his eyes in an attempt to appear effortlessly presentable. He had never been the kind of person to worry over his looks, that was much more typical of the older Black, yet there was something about being around Potter that made it impossible for him to be careless in his demeanour. Once he reached the door to the tower observatory, he took a steadying breath and pushed it open.

“Every time you talked to me… I wanted to talk to you more, and I knew if I told you about the ring you wouldn’t- you wouldn’t talk to me anymore, so I just… didn’t tell you” The obvious guilt tugging on the features of James’ face has Regulus’ heart beating erratically in his chest.
He tries to pull away from James' lap and is instantly gripped hard by James' hands, a panicked look in his eyes.“And then we slept together, and we kept sleeping together and I kept putting it off because I knew you would stop seeing me. I wanted- I wanted you.
That makes Regulus stop, his hands pausing on James’ shoulders.
“You… wanted me?” Regulus breathes, feeling like all the air he gained has been forcefully taken from his body once again.
