“Ah?” He might have also wanted to ask the other man about yesterday, but it was unnerving to have it asked of him! Perhaps Wei Wuxian could still feign ignorance. “What is there to ask about? I just happened to come across you and was able to offer a bit of assistance.”
Nie Mingjue raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “Do you think me senile?”
He huffed, inexplicably feeling a little embarrassed, “Well, it was worth a try."

Summary
The cold winters of Yiling left Wei Ying shivering. The warm piers of Lotus Pier left Wei Ying wanting. The calm of the Cloud Recesses left Wei Ying belonging.
In other words, Wei Ying finds a home in the Cloud Recesses after he is saved by the Lans in a place that was meant to be his forever. Everyone is learning to accept the changes of the future and the mistakes of the past.

'The smoke seemed to push and pull Wei Wuxian about, tugging at his clothes, hair, and limbs. It sucked the life out from Wei Wuxian as his cheeks hallowed and his body began to thin. The whites of his eyes reddened and bruises formed under them.
Blood began seeping through the white of his robes.'
In which, on a very normal day within Cloud Recesses, while Wei Wuxian was walking to the library with Lan Wangji to copy rules of which he was caught breaking, Wei Wuxian is suddenly attacked by a dark cloud of screaming fog. The next time he wakes, he is not the same Wei Wuxian whom is at the Cloud Recesses for classes, but instead the Wei Wuxian of the future. The feared Yiling Laozu who had just lost his sister and who's last memory is of him destroying the amulet.
