Summary
Halfway through making a ham and cheese sandwich, I paused. I didn’t own much jewelry. I looked up the stairs to the open door of my room. I didn’t own a jewelry box. I walked back up the stairs, abandoning the sandwich, and picked up the black octagonal box. I turned it over in my hand. It was made of a shiny black substance, not plastic, but I couldn’t tell what exactly it was, and had an intricate red design on the lid. I squinted at it. Who’s was it? Why was it here? I debated on whether to open it or not, then thought “What the hell? What’s the worst that could happen? An alien spring out and cast my life into even more chaos?”
