It started small. A shift that everyone expected. One-off comments that alarmed Meredith. "Do you think Link would watch Scout?" Amelia asked, finally eating something. Small bites that felt useless. "I was thinking of going somewhere for a while." Something goes unspoken. A flash of her electric blue eyes tells the whole story. "A vacation," Amelia added, only after Meredith took a slow, long drag of her coffee, cradling the mug in some way that made Amelia envious of her touch. "Some place that doesn't remind me of her."
Meredith nodded to herself. The last domino fell into place as Amelia smiled for the first time since the passing of her partner. "Whatever you need."
