Uncle Philip doesn’t seem to understand that Lamentation is always listening, always recording what he hears deep in his mind. Sometimes, when Uncle Philip thinks he isn’t paying attention, he’ll call Lamentation “Caleb,” and curse an unfamiliar name. What he learns makes an unpleasant tapestry, finished and hung with a worse thread.
