“Chen.”
Lucy didn’t seem to have heard, continuing to apprehend the two men that were now eyeing each other, breathing heavily and waiting for the opportunity to pounce again.
“Lucy,” Nyla said, louder this time.
She looked up, puzzled. Her gaze followed Nyla’s as she looked down again.
“Fuck,” she hissed softly as she finally noticed the needle that was stuck into her left side, clear liquid still remaining in the syringe. The needle winked under the streetlight, its plunger pressed halfway.
