Felix liked to keep his head down.
At seventeen, he had already learned that it was safer to move quietly through the halls of school, to keep his books hugged close and his smile polite. He wasn’t invisible, but he could pretend. Pretending was easier than explaining the hollow ache of coming home to silence, or the way his chest tightened every time his parents looked through him instead of at him.
