Summary
Zanka has always dealt with geniuses.
No matter how much he hates to face it, there will always be someone better than him in daily life. It's expected, of course - he's only an average joe.
But that doesn't eliminate the ache he gets whenever he is face to face with one. It will always be there, in the back of his mind, and it will eventually come to the forefront of his thoughts.
So why, whenever he fights Jabber Wonger, the "craziest" of the raiders, does that ache not hollow him out as it should?

It's been three days since Will left abruptly one night, venturing into the Upside-Down to end this and kill Vecna. He knew he had to do it. He thought he wouldn't live long enough to have to explain himself.
He remembers that night so clearly— specifically, Mike waking up to the sound of him prowling around in the late hours, searching for Nancy's guns. He remembers Mikes bleary eyes and ruffled hair, and the flush high on his cheeks. Will remembers how kissable he had looked— how he had to force Mike to stay behind, using his newfound powers to lock him in his room. It was cruel, but he had no choice. Will remembers sliding against the door, where he could hear Mike sobbing on the other side, and whispering a confession:
“I love you so much, and I can't let you get hurt”

After all, it’s at least partly his fault Itadori is here in the first place. It wouldn’t do well to be - cold, to him, on top of that. It would be the right thing, the more moral thing to do, maybe. To keep him at arms length to make sure that his miscalculations wouldn’t hurt Itadori again, wouldn’t put him in danger. Megumi doesn’t want to lull him into any false sense of security that the world of Jujutsu is fun and welcoming and about saving the world, because it isn’t. But...
He’s clearly making an effort to be friends. Megumi isn’t - he isn’t a cruel person. Not to those that don’t deserve it, and he isn’t a robot either, despite the jokes his classmates make. Itadori doesn’t deserve it.
With a sense of finality, he thinks: Tsumiki wouldn’t like it if he were unkind to Itadori, when Itadori was being kind to him. And that settles it.
