    “You saved me,” Geralt tells him. “When everything was dark and angry and lonely. You showed up like a sunrise to show me the way out. I couldn’t have done it without you.”

    There’s a hand cupping his cheek, rubbing over the days-old stubble there, and another resting on the nape of his neck. Though he’s never been so close to these too-gentle hands, the calluses are familiar, born from years of sword-wielding, manual labor, and a cruel world. The lips against his are vaguely familiar too, though surprisingly soft, and they taste of mead and roast pheasant and opportunity.

    Jaskier pushes him away and tries to calm the desperate thrumming of his bleeding heart.

    “I can’t,” He gasps into the space between their mouths, aching against the words even as he cannot help but acknowledge their truth, “I can’t, not with you.”

    “Geralt!” Jaskier breathes and waves his hand. It’s made difficult by Geralt still holding it, but Jaskier tries his best. “My hand moves! Without me moving it!” He looks up at Geralt, his eyes massive. “Have you ever heard of such a thing?!”

    “Yes, you’re very talented,” Geralt says, and Jaskier thinks he would like to kiss him for that, but the witcher seems very high up away. “Now go to sleep.”

     

    (After an attack, Jaskier is under the influence of painkillers). (It goes about how you would expect).
