Ja hates everything about Steph. His stupid giggly laugh, his crooked smile, the way the corners of his eyes crinkle when he smiles, those stupid green, sparkling eyes when they look at him, the way he gets so pink and soft off the court when everyone knows he’s that mouthy, difficult bastard on the court. The way he looks back at Ja, eyes soft and misty, mouth pretty, smirking and pink, offering himself completely to Ja, he hates it all.
It annoys him even more that there’s nothing he can do about it, absolutely nothing.

The scent hits him first, strong enough that LeBron wonders how he missed it, even all the way across the room. Tart enough to make your teeth tingle, earthy at the same time. A candied apple. Natural, but still deliberate; not just a fruit but a confection. Sweet and calculated.

LeBron lingers in the past until Steph forces him into the present.
