The second the words leave her mouth, Amanda’s fingers press slightly harder into her thigh. Not enough that anyone else would notice. Just enough that Angela does.
Angela’s breath catches. Her head snaps towards Amanda’s instinctively. Amanda’s gaze is still fixed on her phone. Completely casual. Except for the fact that Angela feels the subtle increase in pressure against her leg. Feels Amanda’s fingertips sink just slightly into the soft flesh of her thigh. And when Amanda finally glances up from beneath her lashes for half a second, her eyes are darker than they were a moment ago.

She had casually, carelessly demanded Angela’s constant emotional support, entirely blind to the fact that she was forcing Angela to ghostwrite a romance she wasn't allowed to star in.
