Summary
Six years post-war, Ginny's life is in shambles. She's doing menial work for minimum wage at Witch Weekly, without so much as an article to her name — so, when she's given the opportunity to finally get published, she jumps to take it. Her big break taking the form of an exposé on a sex club seems an unusually cruel twist of fate, but it is somewhat befitting considering the downward trajectory her life has taken as of late. Upon venturing beyond the club's gilded doors, however, Ginny begins to worry she might have bitten off more than she can chew.

“We’re hardly more than a patchwork of scars, aren’t we?” she asks, unable to hold his gaze for long, not this close, where her own wounds are laid bare. His fingers squeeze hers, rough with use, but warm and comforting all the same.
“We’re still here, and that's all that really matters,” he tells her gruffly, firmly, and he’s right. They are here, here when so many others are not, and surely that is worth something.
“Yes…” she replies after a long moment of comfortable, but strangely anticipatory silence. “Yes, I suppose it is.”
