Will looks up from the spot he was looking at on the floor. “What? I can?”
“Stay at my house tonight.”
Will plays with his own fingers. He’s always fiddling with his own fingers, touching his hands. Mike can't stop looking at them. “What? Mike, why? I’ll be okay here.”
“It’s just one night,” Mike says, a little loudly, a little desperate.
“Okay,” Will replies, a little loudly, also a little desperate, a little too fast like he had been meaning to say yes the entire time. “Yeah… Yeah, I’ll stay over.”
And now they are here. Both sitting on Mike’s bed, with the most crushing tension hanging over them. Mike wants to die in it.

Cole glares at Jay. His cheeks would have been tear-stained if he was capable of producing tears, but instead they're still green-tinted, cloudy, and translucent, just like the rest of him. Cole's not sure if it even counts as crying. It doesn't feel the same as crying when he was human, not that he cried that often anyway. He hadn't wanted anyone to see him. Why else would he have walked 7 miles from the Destiny's Bounty to stand on the shore alone without telling anyone where he was going? Apparently that wasn't enough though, because Jay had found him anyway. "You promised you wouldn't laugh."

Quick to save her blunder, she acts fast, passing it off as an attempt to get more comfortable in her seat, and scooting in closer to appear more attentive. “I suppose…”
A stray card almost slides out of the deck as Amy shuffles until she swipes back in with a practiced hand. While she continues her mix, she slows her pace to regard her purple companion with an astute eye. “Are you nervous?”
Blaze stiffens under her observant gaze, the beginnings of an embarrassed simmer beneath her skin reminding her to take a moment and gather the right words.
“A little.” She finally admits, running smoky hands over the skirt of her dress, smoothing out non-existent wrinkles. “I’ve never had my fortune read before. And worried to learn what my future may hold.”
