Oscar tensed before half heartedly patting Lando on the shoulder, not sure what else to do.

or, five times lando comes into oscars room to ask for his help with something and then berate his hugging skills plus one time that oscar goes to lando and gives him a good hug and maybe plus one more time but its landos pov. so basically the title.

“Are you okay?” Oscar asked, taking the water bottle from Lando, and setting it down. He looked worried and in the dim room lighting, the shadows on his face made him look exhausted. Come to think of it, Oscar was probably exhausted. It was definitely past four in the morning, and instead of sleeping, he was baby-sitting his sorry ass. “Lando?”
Fuck. He’d forgotten Oscar had asked him if he was okay. What was he supposed to say in response? Yes, I’m fine, ignore the agonizing pain, or would he have to admit to the truth. Oscar wasn’t stupid. Lando knew this. He would not believe it if he lied, and while he probably wouldn’t push, Lando would feel bad for lying to Oscar when he had spent so much time helping him.

In a futile attempt to stay awake, he glanced over at Lando, who was sitting across from him, and leaned over to read something on one of the screens while nodding along.
Lando had looked up at whoever was talking—Jake, maybe?—and something had to be wrong with Oscar, because the first thought he had was ‘Lando would look great on his knees’.
He felt his cheeks heat up, yet still not being able to divert his attention away from Lando, who, with his bright eyes and his full eyelashes—that he surely must curl—paired with an attentive smile, had suddenly made Oscar’s day so much more interesting.

Moving to Ferrari, learning a new language, adjusting to a new teammate. All things that Lewis felt he was prepared for at the beginning of the 2025 season. He had even prepared himself to take Charles under his wing as he navigated the world of F1 post-Carlos given how much experience he'd had in that particular department. What he hadn't expected, what he had in fact dreaded, was watching from the sidelines as they continued to get closer and closer than before.
