Emmett was an honest drunk.
Eden realized this when, after a single sip of Eden's glass of beer —which, Emmett swore he had reached for his own glass, and Eden just swapped them— he told the slightly shorter man to shut up. That he was annoying and nobody liked him. Eden tried to ignore the slight pang of hurt in his chest when he heard the man he liked to call his best friend be so blunt and genuine while insulting him, even if the words thrown his way were quite childish. He made a joke out of it. He made sure no one knew it actually hurt a little, because god forbid they knew something about him other than his name.
He also realized this when, while he was escorting the sluggish man back home, letting him wrap an arm around his shoulder so he wouldn't fall during their walk, Emmett suddenly spoke up.
"You're wrong."
