Suddenly, she feels Jake gently tap her on the shoulder, so she redirects her gaze back up at him. Giving a warm smile, Jake slowly takes the microphone from her hand and places it on a nearby plastic chair, setting down his own microphone too.
“What are you-“
Before she could finish, Jake steps towards Hailey and takes her hands in his, causing her to cut off her own words.“If you can’t look at the crowd, look at me, okay?”

Jake steps towards her. He stays quiet, but his hand reaches up to her hair and he starts to gently run his fingers through it, fixing the mess it became from all the dancing earlier. Hailey feels her blush deepening at the gesture. She takes in a breath and stays still, her skin tingling with each light brush his fingers make against her face. Jake tucks a lock of her hair behind her ear, and his gaze meets back to her eyes again. He gives a soft smile.
“See you tomorrow, princess. Meet me in the pouring rain.”
