August comes regardless, and the people left have to get on with their lives.
There are moments when he tricks himself into believing it's all the same, but now he's giving rides to Billy, whose hands, covered in scars, shake when he lights his cigarettes. And he spends most days with Robin, who can't believe that people could just forget, who says that she'll never get back to normal again.
“You will,” Steve insists. It might not be entirely true, but who could say?
