    Summary

"If you never looked my way," I said.

"You would've stayed on your knees. And I'm real sure you never would've danced with the devil, at nineteen," Peter said.

"And God's honest truth is that the pain was heaven," I said, looking down.

"And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts," Peter said, tilting my chin up.

"Memories feel like weapons," I whispered.

"And now that I know, I wish you left me wondering," Peter whispered.

Peter and I have been through a lot. We said throughout our journeys if we would've, we could've, and we should've. But we never did. And now, we realize it, and it hurts. We try to fix it, but we can't. Not even with the help of our friends. I wish we would have realized sooner that we could have and should have done something. Now, my girlhood is gone. And the ghosts haunt us in our sleep.
