Summary
“I don’t care about the life you had before me. I really don't. I care about the one you’re willing to have with me. If you can stand the cracks in me then… then I can more than stand the cracks in you.”
Rhaenyra breathes in filling her lungs with salt air. This is it. This is… everything. There's nothing left in her anymore, no fear, no fight. Just Alicent, “I’m here, aren’t I?” she whispers.
“Yes,” Alicent says, voice breaking on the single word. “You’re here.”
When the sky finally goes indigo, the air cools fast. Rhaenyra shivers once, and Alicent stands without a word, offering her hand.
They don't talk about it further.

Summary
Alicent Hightower doesn’t do this. Rhaenyra Targaryen thinks she has her figured out — another rich woman playing make-believe, trying to buy something close enough to affection that she can almost mistake it for the real thing. She’s done this before. She knows how it goes.
Except Alicent is different. She listens. She smiles like it costs her something. She asks. And Rhaenyra makes the rookie mistake of falling in love with a client.

Summary
Alicent Hightower has spent her entire life playing by the rules—polished, composed, untouchable. As CEO of Hightower Publishing, she thrives in a world of power plays and precision, where emotions are liabilities and every move is calculated. But Rhaenyra Targaryen? She’s chaos wrapped in a tailored blazer. The nepotism hire Alicent never wanted. The paralegal who waltzes into her office with too much confidence and too little respect for authority.
What starts as an office rivalry quickly becomes something else, something sharp-edged and impossible to ignore. Every glance is a challenge, every conversation a battle, and every lingering touch a war waged in silence. But with Alicent’s father pressuring her into a strategic marriage and Rhaenyra’s own reckless heart leading her straight into dangerous territory, the line between professional and personal grows thinner by the second.
