Summary
There is little of himself to be seen in the boy who clearly takes after his mother. He has her coloring, her soft classical features, even her muted air of melancholy, here more pronounced and freshly shaded by grief. Yet looking closely, is there not something in his bearing that reminds him of Robertus’s solemn, thoughtful gaze? Is that petal-pink, bow-shaped mouth not curiously familiar even without Simonetta’s gracious and warming smile? Even those charming, impossible to hide ears are so like his sister’s that his remaining doubts crumble and lie forgotten, and with them his ability to hold firm to neutral disinterest.
