Summary
Golden Week has arrived, and Kudou Shinichi, better known as Edogawa Conan, is incredibly busy. An old friend of Kudou Yukiko’s has invited them to Lake Biwa to help with a case: Kaitou Kid is planning to steal the Crystal Mother. Meanwhile, Hattori Heiji has invited them to his kendo tournament. To top it all off, Shinichi's birthday is approaching, not that he ever remembers it himself.
Kaito’s usual grin softened into something gentler, earnest, more personal. “Happy birthday, Shinichi,” he said in a low voice. The words landed with a quiet weight and somehow, all at once, everything else faded: the city lights, the river, even the fireworks themselves.
Shinichi’s mind caught up, and the truth struck him all at once. Oh. Today was the 4th of May. His birthday.
“So you remember now,” Kaito added, leaning slightly closer, his tone teasing yet soft, eyes never leaving Shinichi’s.
Shinichi nodded slowly, his chest tightening in a way he couldn’t quite rationalise. He glanced back at the fireworks, blinking once, then again, as colours bloomed and faded across the sky, mirrored in the water below.
“…Thank you,” he said finally, his voice low. “For… everything.”Series

Mycroft did not look away from Greg, his expression remaining a mask of polite indifference. "What?"
"You're doing it again," she muttered.
Mycroft finally shifted his gaze, lifting his teacup with agonizingly slow grace. "I haven't the faintest idea what you mean."

Summary
Following the fiasco at the Department of Mysteries, Voldemort is dead, but the war is far from over. The remaining Death Eaters have managed to escape and are wreaking havoc across Britain. In a bid to gather intelligence, Harry Potter makes an unthinkable suggestion: to employ Lucius Malfoy as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.
Lucius studied him, his expression unreadable. "I fail to see what you hope to gain by bringing me to Hogwarts."
Harry was silent for a moment before replying. "I've heard it's wise to keep your enemies close."
A faint arch of Lucius’s brow was the only sign that the remark had landed. "So,” he said evenly, “you consider me your enemy."
Harry let out a quiet sigh and rolled his eyes. “Let’s stop pretending. We both know the truth.”
Lucius held his gaze for several long seconds. "I confess, Potter, I rather expected some noble speech about forgiveness. Perhaps even redemption."
Harry gave a soft snort. "I'm not that saintly."
For the first time, genuine amusement crossed Lucius's face. A quiet chuckle escaped him before he quickly composed himself once more, his familiar mask of cool detachment slipping back into place.Chapter 1-7 REWRITTEN
