We can schedule her to follow-up with you all outpatient?" Belly said, reciting back what Agnes had told her and adding in some of her own interpretation. It was a miracle her brain seemed to be working at all, as she still felt unsteady on her feet.
Conrad looked up from his list. And then, he did the unthinkable from any surgery resident who ever lived.
He smiled.
It wasn't a big smile by any means, just a slight pulling of his lips up and to the side, a crinkle appearing in the outside of his right eye.
"What did you need me for then, Dr. Conklin?" he said, and oh it was silly, and she was a whole twenty-five years old, but her cheeks were suddenly on fire and the mark on her wrist seemed to pulse even more quickly.
