Will had episodes, flashbacks full of terror. They were few and far between, but they were still there. And when they happened, it make Jonathan's skin crawl. To see Will's face contorted in horror, his eyes brimming with tears, his thin frame shaking was horrible. Joyce would hold Will as he shook, sobbing soothing words quietly into his hair. Jonathan felt helpless, unsure of what to do, how to make it better, unsure of how to protect his little brother and chase away those fears.
