Summary
Mike is out of breath despite sitting nearly unmoving for hours. He rolls down the window for air and catches a glimpse of himself in the side mirror. His eyebrows are furrowed, and mouth slightly agape as it tries to get air in his lungs. His eyes glisten as tears finally threaten to fall. He can’t cry; boys don’t cry. His eyesight gets blurry, it makes driving dangerous. Boys also don’t like boys, but here he is anyway. It’s an immutable truth that defines his very being. Mike Wheeler wants to kiss a boy.
