A deep breath blew into the speaker. Atsushi didn’t have it in him to wince, his anxiety too great to allow for a reaction other than a tense gasp.
“Tell Kunikida-kun I’m okay,” Dazai whispered.
Kunikida asks Atsushi to keep an eye on Dazai after he disappears for awhile.

Summary
On the anniversary of Odasaku's death, Dazai is holed up alone in his apartment, breaking down in the same way he does every single year. He anticipates the worst, enabling his vices and falling into the rabbit hole of misplaced blame and guilt when he's visited by a specific white-haired agency member that just wants the best for him, showing him that even in the deepest and darkest of moments, there is still love all around him.

Aka Fic where Dazai is really fucked up over the events surrounding Oda's death even after 4 years, and he wants to suffer in private but Atsushi is an absolute ray of sunshine that only wants to help.

Because Dazai saved him, Atsushi intrinsically saw him as a good person. Something no one ever did before. Naturally. Dazai was not a good person.
And yet, Atsushi persisted in seeing things in him that Dazai himself couldn’t distinguish.
