Summary
"Shit" is a recurring word in Eli's vocabulary.
"Shit" is used whenever Eli wakes up naked (again) in someone's bed (again), someone who's name is probably unknown even to her companion's mother (not unusual). She also "shits" her way out the window when, inevitably, her companion's wife (when she's not in bed with them) starts chasing her with her dining room best cutlery.
She uses it when she can't, for the life of her, mount her horse without showing the whole country her undergarments, or when she can't find the dress she was supposed to wear for that important gathering her mother had been preparing her for (dress she had probably sold during the little card games she played at the local, filthy, smelly canteen on the other side of the island).
"Shit" is just the right term for every situation. And it's incredibly fitting to use when you're on a ship you shouldn't be on.
It's not her fault, really, her father should've fucking written "Elizabeth" bigger on the fucking stern.- Language:
