    “A friend?” Shouto asked incredulously. It’s not like he had much experience on the matter, but he’s seen movies. Friends were people who were hanging out at arcades and walked to school together. He never did those things with Midoriya. “We were just fighting.”

    “You did more than that. Friends help you recognise yourself.” His mother looked at him so gently and Shouto wondered then if he’s forgotten so many things because he never really had friends. The thought was depressing, so Shouto kept it to himself. He didn’t want to risk making his mom sad.

    “But yes, maybe try to talk to Midoriya-kun next time instead of fighting. And tell me how it went when we see each other again,” Rei said as they were saying their good-byes. Shouto promised he would.

    When the vigilante known as Jade abruptly cuts off communication with his usual contacts mid-mission, Eraserhead and Detective Tsukauchi start to get worried. He seemed off the last time they talked to him. The longer he's gone, the more worried they get.
