Corralled back into his own game, Angel tenses. His spine stiffens and he laughs, half-manic, cheeks warming quickly. “What's wrong with me? Nothing’s wrong with me. I'm good. Can't a guy just go out for drinks or what? Is there a fucking curfew in this place I didn't know about?”
Angel knows his voice has skidded up to a high-pitched noise. He knows that he's risking being read to the last dot and comma, and the spaces in between his own sentences. So, he grins, cocks a hip to add an insouciant gleam to his quickly breaking facade. This time, he won't lose it falling back on his ass, yelling like an idiot, demanding to be noticed.
