Summary
“What no one told you about miraculously coming back from the dead was how it was a total goddamn shitshow. Because yeah, Sam was alive, and yeah, the apocalypse had been averted, sort of—he wasn’t clear on if it counted when the apocalypse had still happened but all the people who’d died came back. But at his last count, Sam had lost: five years, two best friends, a home and/or place to live, practically all of his stuff, and—okay, this one wasn’t so bad—his fugitive status. Sam had gained: Captain America’s shield and Bucky.”
How Sam and Bucky get by, after Thanos is defeated. Or: the story of how two idiots become roommates, partners, friends with benefits, and maybe something more, if they could just stop being so oblivious, while they wait to find out if their Steve’s ever coming back from his trip through time.

’It’s an article. One of those shitty, badly formatted click-baits and this time the headline screams at him: ’BURIED HATCHET? SUPRISING TENDERNESS ON THE BATTLE FIELD’
John chokes on his coffee.’
In which people take sneaky photos of Bucky and John post-fights. Meanwhile John’s half-way in love anyway and has a very low self-esteem, and Bucky just wants John to stop doing stupid shit. And maybe kiss him stupid.

”What are you two looking at each other all knowingly for? It’s creepy. I do not like it,” Yelena complained. She made a ‘gimme’ gesture. “Share with the class.”
Bucky sighed. "There might be a small chance that we’ll be working with Sam on this job.”
“Sam, like Sam Wilson? Like, actual Captain America?” Bob asked excitedly, nearly choking on his coffee. He grimaced apologetically after John rolled his eyes at his comment. “Sorry, Walker.”
***
Or: Months after the formation of their team, a joint New Avengers and Captain America mission goes sideways when Sentry decides to make a surprise appearance. John Walker, of all people, is the one to have to deal with it.
